Plaquenil does not work for everyonebut thankfully it does for me. Without Plaquenil, I am sleeping most of the day and unable to accomplish much. Plaquenil also takes time to build up in your body to determine whether it works for one person and not another. For me, it was about 6-months. I believe Drs generally state 3-6 months for patients. I've never taken Plaquenil, but many of our members do and it does seem to be quite successful in a lot of cases. We have a very useful thread here on Plaquenil with lots of advice on the eyesight question. There's also another Plaquenil thread as well which I hope will give you some more information. Best wishes, Lichen planopilaris LPP is an inflammatory condition that causes patchy hair loss, mainly on the is a form of lichen planus that most often affects women in young adulthood. 5. All work by suppressing the immune system. If he wants this type of drug he can try to balance control of his autoimmune disease with the risk of infection. What I mean is He might want to consider taking a lower dose of Plaquenil. This won't suppress his immune system quite as much but it also won't completely control his Sjogrens.

Plaquenil, hydroxychloroquine HCQ, is an anti-malarial medication that has been proven to be useful in the treatment of patients with rheumatoid arthritis RA, systemic lupus erythematosus SLE and other inflammatory and autoimmune diseases. In Sjögren’s, Plaquenil is used to treat many symptoms of Sjögren’s including fatigue, joint. Plaquenil reduces inflammation in many Rheumatic disorders, the mode of action is pretty complicated though so I shan't bore you with all the details, but basically it prevents your dendritic cells these are messengers for your immune system, if you will from interacting with your T-Cells a special type of white blood cell which through a convoluted and boring process, causes inflammation. I tell ya, these AI diseases are nothing to sneeze at and neither is bad fibromyalgia. I don't know if we get the fibro worse with AI diseases or what but I was in so much pain. The fatigue was horrible too. I am glad I switched to the cymbalta, perhaps the combination of it and 400 mg of plaquenil will work for me.
